COMMUNITY ON EDGE AS “FINGERTIPS” REMAINS AT LARGE

By Marissa Clarke – Hillcrest Daily Staff Writer

Hillcrest, NC — What began as a night of horror has escalated into a full-scale manhunt. Authorities have confirmed that seven victims were brutally slain in the early hours of June 3rd. Only one person connected to the case remains unaccounted for — a man the community has come to know by a single chilling name: Fingertips.

Police have officially issued a WANTED WARNING, naming Fingertips as the prime suspect in the murders and the kidnapping of a local resident still missing. While details remain scarce, investigators describe him as extremely dangerous, unpredictable, and capable of striking again without warning.

Residents are being urged to remain indoors after dark and to avoid isolated roads, wooded areas, and abandoned properties. “Do not confront him under any circumstances,” Police Chief Donovan Miles said at a tense press briefing. “If you see him, call emergency services immediately. He has already taken too many lives.”

The Hillcrest community, shaken by grief and fear, has begun gathering nightly in candlelight vigils to honor the seven victims. Flyers and online postings urge the public to share any tips, sightings, or suspicious activity that could bring Fingertips into custody.

“We can’t let this monster disappear into the shadows,” said Linda Hart, whose niece is among the victims. “Someone knows something. And if he’s still out there, every second counts.”

Authorities have offered no timeline for when they believe the suspect may be apprehended, but the message is clear: Hillcrest will not rest until Fingertips is found.

TRAGIC MURDERS IN SMALL TOWN: JOSEPH CASSIDY CONVICTED IN TRIPLE HOMICIDE

Authorities have confirmed the conviction of Joseph Cassidy (24) in connection with the brutal slaying of his ex-girlfriend, her partner, and their infant daughter, a case that has haunted the community since it occurred on June 2nd, 2023. On that night, Cassidy broke into the home of Julia Danvers (23), her boyfriend Floyd Hopper (25), and their four-month-old daughter Angelina Hopper. Investigators revealed that Cassidy, enraged after discovering Julia’s months-long infidelity and that Angelina was not his biological child, waited four months before striking with premeditated violence. The crime left investigators horrified. Both Julia and Floyd were killed in their bedroom, while baby Angelina was fatally injured in her crib. “This was an act of rage, deliberate and merciless,” said one detective on the case. Court records further revealed that Cassidy suffered from vivid hallucinations in the months leading up to the murders. He frequently claimed to see his old high school friend, Shawn Hanks (24), though Hanks insisted that the two had never been friends. Tragically, Shawn Hanks died in an unrelated hit-and-run in a church parking lot in 2024, adding another layer of sorrow to an already grim story. Cassidy’s combination of personal grievances and untreated mental instability culminated in a violent spree that left three people dead and an entire community shaken. Despite an insanity defense, the jury found him guilty on all counts. “This tragedy destroyed an entire family and scarred this community forever,” the presiding judge said at sentencing. Cassidy now faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

MYSTERIOUS SWORD-WIELDING DEMON ENTITY APPEARS TO “SAVE” KIENSLERVILLE

Kienslerville, NC — In what eyewitnesses are calling an unbelievable and terrifying event, a mysterious, sword-wielding entity reportedly intervened during a chaotic confrontation on the outskirts of town this week. Ethan Morales, a hiker near the Kienslerville Ridge, said: “One second there were fires and screams echoing through the woods, the next… this figure appeared. He had a sword that glowed faintly, and he moved faster than anything human. He cut through the chaos like it was nothing.” Sophie Tran, driving along Kienslerville Road nearby, described the being as “almost demonic. Horns or spikes, I couldn’t tell. His eyes glowed red. He stopped three men attacking campers before they even pulled their weapons. Then he vanished—just gone.” Authorities who arrived on scene, including Officer Marcus Reynolds and Deputy Laura Kim, reported deep gouges in the ground and scorch marks lining the trail. “It’s as if someone—or something—sliced through the rocks with a sword,” said Reynolds. “I’ve never seen anything like it.” Other witnesses include Clara Hensley, owner of the Kienslerville Lodge: “He saved some of the hikers, I guess. But when he looked at me, I felt like he was measuring my soul. I don’t know if he’s a friend or a threat.” Security camera footage from a nearby research outpost shows a shadowy humanoid moving with inhuman speed and precision. Analysts speculate the being could be supernatural or extra-dimensional, though its origin remains unknown. For now, the sword-wielding entity remains both savior and enigma, leaving Kienslerville shaken and questioning the forces at work in their woods and cliffs.

A nationwide movement has erupted online under the hashtag #FindFingertips as authorities intensify their hunt for the masked killer known only as “Fingertips.” This dangerous man has terrorized communities across state lines, leaving behind a trail of gruesome murders — each victim connected in ways detectives are only beginning to uncover. His twisted signature: cutting off the fingers of his victims and arranging them to spell out his chilling name. The case escalated further when Joshua Banks was kidnapped. His fate remains unknown — alive or dead. Investigators fear time is running out. Now, to bring this nightmare to an end, officials have announced a $1,000,000 reward (with no tax deductions) for the person who helps locate, identify, and turn in Fingertips. ⚠️ This movement depends on YOU. The public is urged to share the message across all social media platforms to spread awareness and tighten the net around this killer. Authorities stress that no tip is too small — one piece of information could lead to capture. The campaign insists: share this post everywhere. Together, we can stop Fingertips before he strikes again. Share on every major platform, including: Facebook Instagram Twitter (X) TikTok YouTube Snapchat Reddit Discord Twitch LinkedIn Pinterest ⚠️ Anyone with information is urged to immediately report sightings to local law enforcement or the dedicated hotline 1-800-FIND-HIM. One share could save lives. One call could end the terror. Join the movement: #FindFingertips.

Local Authorities Investigate Disturbing “Smiling Room” Discovery

Redwood — Authorities have cordoned off a long-abandoned farmhouse after the shocking discovery of what locals are now calling “The Smiling Room.” Sheriff Dale Morrow confirmed yesterday that deputies entered the residence after multiple reports of strange noises and unexplained lights. Inside, they found a single upstairs room covered wall-to-wall with drawings of human smiles. Unlike paint or marker, investigators say the material appeared organic, raising concerns about its origin. Neighbors reported that the farmhouse had been vacant for nearly thirty years, though some recall seeing faint candlelight flickering through its cracked windows at night. “I thought kids were sneaking in,” said lifelong resident Harold Connors. “But the smell… it was like rotting meat and bleach every time the wind shifted.” Authorities have not released official details, but unconfirmed reports suggest that some of the “smiles” were not drawings at all, but imprints resembling stretched human skin. The room remains sealed as forensic teams investigate. Sheriff Morrow urged residents to avoid the property entirely. “Whatever happened in there,” he said, “it wasn’t natural.” The farmhouse is expected to be demolished later this week, though some locals believe destroying it will only “wake whatever’s inside.”

BIBLICAL-LIKE UFO SIGHTINGS SPARK FEAR AROUND THE WORLD!

Residents report witnessing a massive, glowing craft hovering silently above neighborhoods, radiating light so intense it has been described as “biblical in nature.” Witnesses say the object’s enormous size and geometric patterns resemble depictions of angels or divine chariots, leading to widespread fear and speculation. One resident, who captured video on their phone, said, “It moved with intelligence, almost like it was judging us. There was a low hum that shook my chest, like the voice of the heavens themselves.” Local authorities confirm no known aircraft or natural phenomena match the description, and while some suggest drones or atmospheric anomalies, most admit the sighting is unlike anything recorded in the area. Adding to the unease, rumors have begun circulating that the UFO may be connected to human cloning experiments. Some residents claim to have seen people behaving strangely or noticing duplicates in town, though none of these reports have been verified. “It’s uncanny,” one witness said. “You see someone you know, but something about them is… off.” The sightings have fueled online conspiracy theories, with some linking the object to the Joseph Cassidy murders and other unexplained disappearances in Henley Hillcrest, including the still-missing Fingertips. Many fear the craft may be observing or even experimenting on humans, though officials caution that these claims remain unconfirmed. Whether divine, alien, or something far stranger, the biblical-like UFO sightings and uncanny human rumors have left Henley Hillcrest residents unnerved. Authorities urge citizens to remain indoors after dark and report any further sightings without approaching the object.

WHO IS FINGERTIPS?

Authorities are on high alert as the elusive serial killer known only as “Fingertips” continues his violent spree, leaving behind a gruesome signature that has shaken communities across the state. The suspect, described as wearing all-black gloves and a full mask, with a rope knotted around his neck, has been linked to a string of murders stretching over several counties. Detectives have uncovered a disturbing pattern in his crimes: each victim is somehow connected — either through work, social circles, or past associations — though the exact nature of the links remains unclear. Investigators say Fingertips marks his presence in the most horrifying way imaginable. At each crime scene, he removes the victims’ fingers and arranges them to spell out his name. This gruesome ritual has become his calling card, a chilling taunt to both his victims and law enforcement. The killer is believed to travel frequently, striking in one town before vanishing without a trace, leaving police scrambling to anticipate his next move. His reign of terror escalated last month when he kidnapped Joshua Banks, a local man with no known criminal record. Whether Banks is alive or dead remains uncertain, but authorities fear Fingertips may be holding him as leverage — or worse, preparing him for another twisted display. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, but warn that Fingertips is extremely dangerous and unpredictable. As his pattern of killings grows, fear continues to grip residents who wonder where the masked killer will strike next...

Roots for Tomorrow” Project Brings 500 New Trees to the City

Over the weekend, more than 200 volunteers gathered in city parks to take part in Roots for Tomorrow, a community-driven project dedicated to planting trees and restoring green spaces. By the end of the day, more than 500 trees had been planted across six parks, turning once-empty spaces into growing landscapes of oak, maple, and cherry blossom trees. The project was led by local environmental groups alongside schools, scout troops, and neighborhood associations. “It’s about more than just planting trees,” said project organizer Clara Vance. “It’s about planting hope, improving air quality, and giving future generations a greener city to enjoy.” Children added personal touches by tying colorful ribbons and small notes of wishes to the young saplings before planting them. One child wrote, “I hope this tree grows taller than me and lives longer than all of us.” The city council announced that Roots for Tomorrow will become an annual tradition, with plans to expand into nearby neighborhoods next spring. As residents left the parks, the sight of fresh rows of trees swaying in the wind reminded everyone that positive change can start with just a few helping hands and a shovel.

The Ortega Family Tragedy: 50 Years Later, A Survivor Still Mourns

Fifty years ago this week, the town of Millstone awoke to a nightmare. On the night of August 19, 1975, the Ortega family of ten was slaughtered in their farmhouse on Willow Creek Road. Nine lives—parents and children alike—were taken in what investigators still describe as one of the most unsettling and unsolved cases in state history. Only one family member survived: Xavier Ortega, then just 32 years old and the third youngest of eight siblings. He had gone to bed early that night and awoke to screams and chaos. By the time police arrived, Xavier was discovered in a near-catatonic state, his face horrifically contorted in a way doctors could never fully explain. Over the years, specialists have called his condition a mix of trauma-induced muscular disorder and an unclassified neurological syndrome. Neighbors, however, always described it more simply: “His face twisted the night his family died, and it never untwisted again.” Today, Xavier is 82 years old. Frail but sharp-minded, he still lives in the same creaking house where the massacre took place. He refuses to move, saying it’s the only way to “stand watch over the ghosts.” His grandson, Danny Ortega, now 19, moved in with him last year after finishing high school. Together, they live quietly, tending the garden Xavier’s mother once kept and keeping the front porch light burning every night. “It’s not just a light for us,” Danny explained in an interview. “It’s for them. For the nine who didn’t make it out. Grandpa says if the light ever goes out, they’ll be forgotten. And we can’t let that happen.” The community, though changed by generations, has not forgotten either. Every year, a small group gathers at the town’s memorial statue bearing the names of the nine Ortega victims: Rafael, Marisol, Elena, Teresa, Hugo, Gabriel, Isabela, Lucía, and young Mateo, just 6 years old at the time of the murders. Despite decades of investigation, the case was never solved. Theories ranged from a home invasion gone wrong to ritualistic killings, but no clear evidence ever emerged. Some locals whisper darker possibilities—that Xavier himself was responsible, spared by some incomprehensible force. Police dismissed such claims, citing his lack of physical involvement, but suspicion has lingered in whispers over the years. For Xavier, the tragedy remains an open wound. He rarely speaks about the night itself, but in a rare moment of candor during this anniversary, he said softly: “They were taken from me in ways no man can describe. My face stayed the night they left. Twisted. Broken. To remind me every morning when I look in the mirror that I lived when they did not.” This week, as Millstone marks half a century since the Ortega murders, townsfolk will again gather by candlelight, many of them too young to remember the family at all. Still, the story of the Ortegas—and the strange, solitary figure who survived—continues to haunt every corner of this town. As Danny put it: “We carry their names. We carry their silence. And we’ll keep carrying it until answers come—if they ever do.”
